ROBERT LUND Obituary

Robert H. Lund Longtime Green Brook police chief who was the town’s first fulltime officer in 1950s, retired as Somerset County sheriff, 86 Robert H. He was a lifelong resident of Green Brook. Mr. Lund was a veteran of the World War II era, having served with the US Army in Germany in the 38th Infantry Reinforcement Battalion. He dedicated 49 years to law enforcement, serving as Green Brook’s first full time police officer. He served for 31 years (1953 to 1984) with the Green Brook Police Department, 24 years as chief of police. He also served two years as the county jail warden, and was appointed county sheriff by Gov. Thomas Kean in 1986, serving for 16 years as Somerset County sheriff until 2002. He was a longtime member of the Dunellen United Methodist Church and the Congdon Overlook Lodge No. 119 in Dunellen and the Somerset County Association of Chiefs of Police.
